Travel Options to Karawari – Choose Your Adventure

Getting to Karawari is an adventure in itself! The region is accessible only by plane and water, offering a truly remote and immersive experience. Here are your options:

Option 1: Fly Directly to Karawari ✈️🚤

  • Fly from Mt. Hagen to Karawari by charter plane.

  • Fly from Wewak to Karawari by charter plane.

  • Upon arrival, start your Karawari adventure immediately!

Option 2: Overland & River Expedition via Pagwi 🚗🚤

  • Fly to Wewak and travel by vehicle to Pagwi (4-5 hours).

  • Board a dinghy and embark on a Sepik River tour, stopping at traditional villages along the way.

  • Arrive in Karawari and overnight at Karawari Lodge.

  • After your tour, fly back to Mt. Hagen and then to Port Moresby.

Option 3: Overland & River Expedition via Angoram 🚗🚤

  • Fly to Wewak and travel by vehicle to Angoram.

  • Overnight in Angoram to prepare for your journey.

  • The next morning, travel by dinghy to Karawari, stopping at villages along the way.

Travel further upstream to Pagwi, where you'll board a flight to Wewak or by road, then return to Port Moresby via Mt. Hagen.

Sepik River Adventure: 5-9 Tour -Days Round Trip

Fly from Port Moresby to Wewak, then take a small plane to Pagwi or by road. From Pagwi, embark on a dinghy journey down the Sepik River, traveling through its vibrant villages before heading up the Karawari River.
